Indonesian Habits On Vacation To South Korea, Why?

JAKARTA - The popularity of Korean music or K-Pop and Korean dramas has made more and more Indonesians take a vacation to the Ginseng Country. The number of Indonesian tourist visits to South Korea is even 9th on a global and 4th order in ASEAN.

While on vacation to South Korea, the Indonesian people visited Seoul a lot. However, in recent times, many Indonesian tourists have also visited Busan.

"So now the trend is still going to Seoul. It's just recently rising for Indonesians, namely Busan," said the Marketing Manager of the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) Jakarta Office, Dwita Rizki, during a media meeting in Melawai, Jakarta, on Thursday, November 6, 2025.

What Indonesians usually do on vacation to South Korea is hunting typical foods or street foods. Especially now that there are also many typical Korean foods that are friendly to Muslims.

"Then of course there are a lot of Indonesians who want to try the street food. And if it's like in Myongdong, there's also a lot of Muslim friendly food," he explained.

Dwita said that most Indonesian tourists vacationed in South Korea for 4 to 5 days. Their favorite vacation time is at the end of the year or during the Eid holidays.

"On average 4 nights or 5 nights, for those on vacation maybe because there is an annual quota", he said.

"By the end of the year they usually still prefer it, or if they don't have Eid holidays," he added.

For the average age of Indonesians on vacation to South Korea, Dwita said it ranged from the 20s and 30s. However, recently there has also been an increase in family vacations or family vaccinations to South Korea.

Not only that, now there are also many Indonesians who are elderly and go on vacation to South Korea, spending a longer time, which is about 10 days.

"The latest is the trend where many Oma opa may have retired with their grandchildren or something, sometimes someone likes to really spend up to 10 nights. Really puts the whole of Korea out really," concluded Dwita Rizki.
