JAKARTA - The film Pangku is the next work of Indonesian filmmakers who steal attention on the international stage. So Reza Rahadian's debut work as a director, Pangku won four awards in various well-known films.

The success was welcomed by the Minister of Culture, Fadli Zon, who attended the premiere of the film at XXI Plaza Indonesia, Jakarta, Wednesday (5/11). Fadli said that the Pangku film captures the harsh reality experienced by women on the coast of Pantura and has succeeded in touching the world audience.

"We are proud, Reza is not only a great actor but also a reliable director. Hopefully this film will continue to lift Indonesian films globally," said Fadli Zon in a written broadcast, November 6.

Deputy Minister of Culture Giring Ganesha Djumaryo was also present. He assessed that the story of a mother's struggle in this film could inspire the younger generation to respect her parents more.

"This film is simple but very touching. It is mandatory to watch it with your family," said Giring.

Reza Rahadian thanked the audience who filled the cinema despite facing congestion in Jakarta. "Happy watching my first work," said Reza.

The film Pangku stars Christine Hakim, Fedi Nuril, Claresta Taufan, and Devano Danendra. This film is inspired by the true story of a young woman who is trapped in the coffee tradition of laps which places women as male servants at a Pantura shop.

Apart from Fadli and Giring, Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Rano Karno and Chairman of the Naswardi LSF were also present at the premiere.
