JAKARTA - The film Pangku is the next work of Indonesian filmmakers who steal attention on the international stage. So Reza Rahadian's debut work as a director, Pangku won four awards in various well-known films.
The festivals that appreciate the film are the 2025 Busan International Film Festival (BIFF), the KB Vision Audience Award (AUDIence Selection Award), the FIPRESCI Award (An award from the International Film Critic Federation), the Bishkek International Film Festival "Central Asia Cinema Award, and the Face of the Future Award (Future Face Award).
The success was welcomed by the Minister of Culture, Fadli Zon, who attended the premiere of the film at XXI Plaza Indonesia, Jakarta, Wednesday (5/11). Fadli said that the Pangku film captures the harsh reality experienced by women on the coast of Pantura and has succeeded in touching the world audience.
"We are proud, Reza is not only a great actor but also a reliable director. Hopefully this film will continue to lift Indonesian films globally," said Fadli Zon in a written broadcast, November 6.
Deputy Minister of Culture Giring Ganesha Djumaryo was also present. He assessed that the story of a mother's struggle in this film could inspire the younger generation to respect her parents more.
