JAKARTA The realm of cinema which is a channel of creativity for filmmakers can become a medium of cultural diplomacy. The point was conveyed by the Minister of Culture Fadli Zon in the discussion and socialization of SOEMA (National Inspirational Scenario for Expressions Caring for Asa).

"In today's era, languages and networks are important vehicles. I watched at various international film festivals how filmmakers from various countries built networking. That's what we must also do," said Fadli Zon at Building A Kemendikbudristek, Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday, September 18.

This program is a creative space for screenwriters to reinterpret the meaning of heroism through script competitions. Menbud Fadli hopes that this competition will trigger the birth of inspiring historical stories and national figures.

"This competition is a stimulus for screenwriters and the public who have an interest in history to express their work," he said.

More than just entertainment, cinema is also relied on as a means to introduce culture. Through international networks, Indonesian films can strengthen the image and identity of the nation.

Discussion NGOFI: Challenges and Opportunities for Heroic Narrative Films presents producer Celerina Judisari, writers Rahabi Mandra, and director Robby Ertanto. They highlight in-depth research, funding, and distribution as a major challenge. Collaboration of filmmakers with academics, psychologists, and communities is considered important so that heroic stories have strong emotional weight and relevance.

Rahabi emphasized that authentic stories will be a great strength to encourage interest in watching. Support and promotion also need to be implemented to maximize the affordability of film works.

"If the story is authentic, there will be global attention. When the film is discussed by the public, interest in watching will grow," he said.

The Ministry of Culture affirms its commitment to present a competition for a fresh heroic narrative scenario. This effort is expected to strengthen the nation's identity through cinema and invite the public to actively participate in writing history through films.
