JAKARTA - Indonesia is rich in local food from various regions, such as cassava, corn, sago, sweet potatoes, to breadfruit which must continue to be preserved. In preserving local Indonesian food, it is not only from farmers, but also all levels of society, especially the younger generation.

MasterChef Season 8, Chef Laode, said that young people must continue to be proud of local foods, even though currently there is a lot of influence on modern lifestyles and food from outside countries.

According to Chef Laode, Indonesian local food is not inferior to food from abroad and can be global too. Therefore, Chef Laode invites young people to continue to preserve local food so that it does not disappear eroded by the times.

In preserving local foods, it can be done in daily life. Such as consuming local food in the daily diet to promoting it on personal social media.

"Now it's the turn of young people to revive local food, for example through social media or their daily lifestyle," said Chef Laode when met in the Kemang area, South Jakarta, on Monday, September 8, 2025.

Chef Laode said that awareness for local food consumption will be very beneficial for the health of the body. This will also be beneficial for the environment and local food producers to continue to cultivate it.

"Awareness of the origin of food will have an impact on the body, environment, and producers," he said.

Not only that, Chef Laode also reminded that young people who like to travel to remote areas try the typical food of the area and share their moments on social media. This step will make the traditional food of the area more well known and still preserved in the future.
