JAKARTA - Designer Marko Monroe, known as Labubu designer, managed to steal attention by showing his latest work called 'Moonbubu' at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards (VMA) on Sunday, September 7, 2025.

Reporting from The Mirror US page, Monroe was one of the guests who attended the prestigious music award event which was held at UBS Arena, Elmont, New York.

Labubunya's work is currently often combined with clothing collections. Monroe previously went viral for changing the character of Labubu which specifically imitates the style of popular celebrities and culture.

Some of his creations include the Marc Jacobs, Lady Gaga, and Lisa BLACKPINK versions of Labbu. Last August, Monroe also received great attention through the Wednesday Adddams themed series.

Labbu is a character created by the artist Kasing Lung in 2015 for a story book called The Monsters. Its form is a nosy-like creature with big ears and full-tooth smiles.

In 2019, Labubu began to be produced as a collection figure through a collaboration with the Pop Mart brand from China. Since then, his name has become increasingly known among designer toy fans, in recent months to penetrate the world of fashion.

Entering 2025, Labubu has become a favorite celebrity accessory. Big names such as Cher, Dua Lipa, and Rihanna have appeared with custom Labubu figures on various events. Madonna also celebrated her 67th birthday with a Labubu-style cake.

"Labubu is no longer just a collectible. This has become a bold statement about personal style." said Emily Brough, Head of IP License Pop Mart for the American region, in a statement to WWD.

Monroe is part of the House of Avalon, a creative group known for combining fashion with performing art. His latest work, Moonbubu continued this tradition.

The 2025 MTV Video Music Awards hosted by LL Cool J featured a number of spectacular shows from Lady Gaga, Mariah Carey, Doja Cat, Post Malone, to Katseye.
