JAKARTA - For some people, shopping for clothes is often an impulsive moment to just look at trending models, feel suitable, then take them home. But for Maudy Ayunda, the process is much more complex.

This actress and singer have a series of considerations that she adheres to every time she will buy new clothes.

"The first one is fit," he said at the UNIQLO Fall/Winter 2025 Collection which was held in Jakarta, recently.

According to Maudy, the suitable clothes are the fit on the body and comfort is the main thing. He believes that comfortable clothes will affect a person's confidence when wearing them.

He also doesn't just see if the shirt looks good in the storefront, but also imagines how it feels when worn in daily activities. After confirming the fit, then he thinks about the level of versatility or convenience for mix and match.

The singer of the song "Perahu Kertas" also doesn't want to buy clothes that can only be worn once for one particular event. Clothes that can be combined with various styles will provide more choices without having to shop frequently.

In this way, he can maximize the collection that is already in the cupboard and avoid piles of clothes that are rarely touched.

"If you want to buy a superior, I always think, later this can be matched with various subordinates, right?" he said.

The next factor that is always considered is quality and durability. Maudy admitted that she was not tempted to buy cheap clothes if the quality was bad.

"If the clothes are easily damaged, why? It's better to buy good quality, so you can wear it often and stay durable," he explained.

For him, the longevity of a fashion product is similar to investment. Quality clothes, especially those with classic models, will always be relevant even if the trend changes.

Timeless pieces and neutral colors, according to Maudy, are much easier to vary for various occasions, from formal to relaxed events.

One of his favorite examples is knitwear. Since college, Maudy has fallen in love with the warmth and casual impression of her knitwear. According to him, this is the strength of classic clothing that can be worn many times in a different style without losing its charm.

"In the past, when my body was still thinner, I liked to make fun of layering and volume. Kniveswear was also processed into a lot of style, combined with denim for a relaxed impression, with a shirt for a neat look, or with skirts for feminine nuances," he concluded.
