"Because to be honest this is a film that is not only extraordinary, but actually teaches me to be able to find out more about sex," said Devano Danendra at the Gala Premier event in the Thamrin area, Central Jakarta, Monday, May 26.
Devano said that the sexual education he received so far was minimal, not even when he was in school. Through this film, he felt that he was introduced to another side of sexuality, especially related to Indonesian history and culture.
"Because if I'm honest, during my school, I rarely get the right education sex. In Gowok, Kamasutra Java, it turns out that it is one of the forgotten histories in Indonesia, right," he said.
In order to explore his role, Devano admitted that he had to do in-depth research on the concept of gowok and what exactly was meant by quality sex. He realized that sexuality is not just a matter of physical relationships.
"And in the end I had to reserch what is going on, what is quality sex, because what I know is sex, just sex," he said.
Furthermore, Devano realized that sex also involves emotional aspects, communication, and romance that are no less important.
