JAKARTA - Actress Nova Eliza expressed her enthusiasm when she was trusted to play a challenging character in the film Legend of Slam Malin Kundant. Nova shared her experience reading the script for the film directed by Rafki Hidayat and Kevin Rahardjo.
"(When I read the script) It felt like it was going to explode original because this was the first time I was given a character like this and outside my comfort zone," Nova Eliza explained at a press conference launching a poster in the Kuningan area, South Jakarta, Monday, May 19.
For Nova, this film script provides a very different and emotional experience. He even immediately contacted Joko Anwar after reading the script because he felt so impressed with the depth of the presented story.
"When I first read the full script, I immediately wrote WA Bang Joko, 'Wow, this is crazy scripting', even though with Rafki this is the second script, yes, but in this story the sound is everything, when you watch it later, you can go from z to z, or you can go to q, so the emotions are multi-layered," he continued.
Nova also expressed her own challenges in delivering dialogue in Minang, which is quite different from the Acehnese language and dialect that she has been more familiar with.
"(For language) It's not too far away, it's just that it looks like the Minang dialect accent is different from Aceh because I'm Acehnese," he said.

However, fortunately the director Rafki who also came from Minang gave great support so that Nova could explore his role well, especially in the use of language.
"So I have to talk again to what extent I can understand, but Rafki the director is Minang, so it really helps me once to be able to run Minang because I'm here full talk," he concluded.
