JAKARTA - Recently, a mountain in China has become a hot topic of conversation on social media, because of its shape that resembles a dog's head.

This was revealed from the upload of a photo of a designer from Shanghai, Guo Qingshan. He shared a photo of his vacation on Valentine's Day with the caption 'Gunung Anak Dog'. The upload immediately went viral in China and made the place a new tourist destination.

Guo climbed the mountain while visiting his hometown in Yichang, Hubei Province, central China, at the end of January. When reviewing his photo, he saw something that was previously not realized, namely a mountain resembling a dog's head, with its mouth as if touching the banks of the Yangtze River.

"It looks so magical and adorable. I was very happy to see it," Guo said, quoted from the CNN page.

"The dog's posture is like drinking water or paying attention to fish. It can also look like it's still guarding the Yangtze River," he added.

Guo's upload on a social media application from China, RedNote gets 120,000 likes in 10 days. On the Weibo platform, the hashtag #xiaogoushan (Gunung Anak Dog) attracts millions of viewers.

Dog owners began uploading photos of their dogs to compare which one most closely resembles the shape of the mountain. Many people also came directly to Yichang to see the mountain itself, some even carrying their dogs for pictures.

One resident named Yang Yang, his home is close from the location, visiting the place with his friends and his two-year-old gray Pudel, Yang Keyi.

"I am very happy to see the mountain. I always travel with my dog if possible. So, Mount Anak Dog feels very suitable for my dog," he added.

The mountain is in Zigui Regency, Yichang. The Yangtze River is China's longest river. In addition, this river is also the third longest in the world, flowing through the mountainous area.

After Guo's photo went viral, many people shared a photo of the view they had previously taken and realized that the mountain did resemble a dog. Some people also discussed how the dog-like mountain shape changes over time.

A Yichang resident, Shi Tong, said that he had actually seen the mountain before and shared a photo immortalized in 2021.

"After seeing a photo of Mount Anak Dog on the internet, I tried to find out the location. Then I realized that I had been to that place before. At that time I also thought this mountain looked like a dog." he said.
