Directors Ferry Pei Irawan And William Chandra Present Indonesian Touch In Bad Guys Series Adaptation

JAKARTA - The Korean drama Bad Guys was adapted for the second time through a series of the same name in Indonesia. Worked on by Vidio with Base Entertainment, this series attracted Ferry Pei Irawan and William Chandra as directors.

"We can't say this is a remake, this is more adaptation. In Indonesia, the writers are more skilled. They are processing material closer to Indonesia because there are plots in Indonesia but they are not in Korea and Thailand," said Ferry Pei Irawan at CGV Grand Indonesia, Jakarta on Tuesday, February 18.

"We want to get closer to perspective with Indonesia by way we think and manage a problem so that it is familiar, the rest I also follow what producers, writers want and give freedom to great actors for interpretation of their characters," he explained.

In the adaptation process, Pei admitted that he was very challenged because he had to adapt the series while he was not used to writing series stories.

"A few months earlier, I talked to a friend and she told me she was watching the Korean drama Bad Guys 4 times but at that time I thought it was the wind, until one day (producer) Ms. Shanty Harmayn contacted me for this project," Pei said.

"I can't bingewatch, so I try to bring the Bad Guys condition closer to our country, especially in this slumped condition. This is an extraordinary story because it has been used to continue to make sequels and make films," he said again.

William Chandra as a collaborator also revealed that they shared a 10-episode briefing between them.

"More to the division of episodes. Bad Guys is what we want to do," said William Chandra.

The Bad Guys series tells the story of Jaka (Oka Antara) and Sekar (Maudy Effrosina), two policemen assigned to solve a mystery murder case. Surrendering to the results that were repeated, the two decided to work with three inmates to catch the mastermind.

The Bad Guys series is available for 10 episodes and releases from February 21 on Vidio.
