Cerita Irma Novita Cs Buat Film Women From Rote Island, Berading Mental

JAKARTA - The film Women from Rote Island is Indonesia's representative for the International Feature category at the Oscar 2025 event. Directed by Jeremias Nganyoen, this film tells a portrait of a woman from Rote who is abused and unfair in the area where she lives.

"As an art worker, I was invited to Rote Island, I walked for coffee, chatted, there was no excessive target. Slowly, it seemed that Rote was beautiful and very visible, a reflection of Indonesia which was very rich," said Jeremias Nganyoen during a movie viewing at CGV FX Sudirman, Jakarta on December 3.

"So beautiful, the landscape is under social problems as a developing country. Because that's quite close, it often happens in the area. Small Rote so the case is immediately visible but on the island of Java it may not be too highlighted," he continued.

The three main characters shared the experiences of those who joined this film. They also revealed that this is the first time they have acted for a film.

"Collaboration between mother and sister and friends of the crew is very helpful in the shooting process and I have to go out so Martha is difficult," said Irma Novita Rihi.

"Fighting with our own mental and brain is amazing and one of the scenes makes us very mentally. This is the first time and 99% of the players here have first shot," he continued.

Sallum Ratu Ke as Bertha, Martha's sister also always remembers the time-consuming process of making films but the results she feels are extraordinary.

"It's a matter of pride for me to play here. 3 months of outstanding manufacturing process," said Sallum Ratu.

"It's more important for film people to know the rules run from Oscar, so I leave everything the same as the ones above regarding the results," said Jeremias Nganyoen.

Women from Rote Island tells the story of Martha (Irma Novita Rihi) whose family is waiting for her to come home so that Abraham's funeral can run. However, Martha is back in a state of depression after experiencing harassment at her workplace. The mother, Orpa (Merlinda Dessy) tries to recover Martha by living in her neighborhood.
