Trump Ambitious To Seize Greenland, France Confirms The European Union Will Not Let America Disturb Its Sovereignty

JAKARTA - French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot insists the European Union (EU) will not allow other countries to attack its sovereign borders.

This affirmation was in response to US President-elect Donald Trump's statement about the plan to annex Greenland.

Trump on Monday refused to rule out military or economic action as part of his desire for the US to control Greenland and the Panama Canal.

The French Foreign Minister said she was not sure the US would invade the vast island of the Arctic which has been part of Denmark for more than 600 years.

"Obviously there is no doubt that the European Union will allow other countries to attack its sovereign borders, whoever they are," he told France Inter radio.

"We are a strong continent," he added.

Trump's comments outline the expansionist agenda, two weeks before he was sworn in as president on January 20.

"If you ask me if I think the United States will invade Greenland, my answer is no. But have we entered a period where the strongest are the survivors? So my answer is yes," said Barrot.

The French Foreign Minister said the Erop Union should not be intimidated or too worried, but must rise and strengthen itself.
