YOGYAKARTA Rain is a weather phenomenon that occurs in Indonesia. When it rains, clouds will drop water points on the surface of the earth at a certain time. The phenomenon of rain does not just happen. There are at least 5 processes of rain that occur in the hydrology cycle.

The process of forming rain begins with evapotranspiration, namely the natural process of evaporation of water from the earth's surface to the atmosphere. Water can come from the soil, plants, and living organisms. At this stage, there are two processes that occur, namely evaporation and transpiration.

Evaporation is a change in water into steam caused by solar heating. Water absorption occurs in rivers, lakes, or the sea. Meanwhile, traspiration is the process of releasing water vapor into the atmosphere by plants through existing depositata in the leaves. Both processes will increase the water vapor content in the atmosphere.

Condensation is a process of changing water vapor into ice crystals. This process occurs after water vapor rises into the atmosphere due to the evapotranspiration process then cools down at a certain height. Low temperatures will turn water into ice crystals to form clouds. Water will continue to be collected into large and heavy clouds due to high water content.

When the grains of water in the clouds get bigger, gravity will pull the material contained in these clouds. This process is called precipitation. It should be noted that material falling from the clouds can be in the form of dense water, snow, or ice criticals. Materials falling from the sky depend on atmospheric temperature.

Infiltration is the process of absorbing water that falls to the surface of the earth towards the ground. This process occurs after precipitation. Later, rainwater will become groundwater that can cover living things, especially plants. Groundwater itself will continue to seep into a drier area of soil.

Meanwhile, rainwater that has fallen to the earth's surface but does not seep into the ground will become runoff or runoff. This stretch will eventually become a river, lake, and even sea. Limpasan can also become a new puddle of water. This puddle needs to be overcome because it has a bad impact. Waterfall that fails to seep into the soil results in flooding to soil erosion.
