JAKARTA - The Tanjungpinang City Cultural Heritage Expert Team, Riau Islands Province, recommends five objects suspected of being cultural heritage (ODCB) to obtain status as cultural heritage in 2024 through a special session of determination.
The head of the Tanjungpinang Cultural Heritage Expert Team, Zulhidayat, said the five proposed objects included the penhulu family tomb complex in Bugis Village, the former Riau Provincial Government Office in Tanjungpinang (UKPBJ Tanjungpinang), the building of the former Riau Provincial Government's old office in Tanjungpinang, Bangku Wilhelmina (Wilhelmina Bank), and Batu Stairs.
"The determination of these historic objects is expected to be able to strengthen cultural identity in Tanjungpinang and support the preservation of historical heritage which also has the potential to develop the tourism sector," said Zulhidayat after a recommendation hearing at a hotel in Tanjungpinang, as quoted by Antara.
Meanwhile, the Head of History and Cultural Conservation of the Tanjungpinang Culture and Tourism Office (Disbudpar), Wimmy Dharma Hidayat, explained that the five objects had gone through an in-depth study process and met the criteria for cultural heritage in accordance with Law Number 11 of 2010.
"Our team has carried out a comprehensive assessment of the history, age, architectural values, and cultural elements of each object, and these five objects are considered worthy to be preserved as cultural heritage," explained Wimmy.
This recommendation will then be submitted to the Acting Mayor of Tanjungpinang to be ratified through an official decree (SK).
