HYBE Apologizes For Internal Documents To Discuss Negative Strategy To Other Idols

JAKARTA - HYBE CEO Lee Jae Sang released an official statement regarding internal documents that were revealed at the open session of the parliamentary audit of the National Committee on Culture, Sports and Tourists at the National Assembly on October 24. The audit revealed that 18 thousand documents contained HYBE plans for idols from other groups.

Some of the strongest documents have comments to other artists such as artists from SM Entertainment, JYP Entertainment, YG Entertainment and other agencies. The document contains a collection of rumors, physical comments, uncertain rumors, and plans to make it viral and others.

Through its official website, HYBE CEO released an apology to musicians, agencies, fans, and the public who felt aggrieved by this document.

"I apologize to artists, shareholders, and fans. This document was made as part of a retrospective collection of reactions and public opinion on issues and trends. Although it was initially shared for directors to understand market and fan sentiment, the content is very inappropriate," said Lee Jae Sang on Tuesday, October 29.

The document contains explicit and provocative expressions for K-pop artists including negative opinions made in the article. As a corporate representative, I am aware of my mistake and will be responsible. I apologize with the wrong viral marketing plan, causing misunderstanding and harm to artists and individuals," he said.

In their statement, they also contacted the relevant agency to apologize. He also apologized to all HYBE artists who were the subject of criticism.

"I stopped making such documents. I promise to strengthen internally so that issues like this don't happen. Once again I apologize to artists, shareholders, fans, and everyone who loves and supports K-pop for this incident," he said.

"I am committed to reflection and prioritizing all rights of K-pop artists and fans. We will contribute to healthy environmental development in the K-pop industry," said Lee Jae Sang.
