Success In Cinemas, Director Reveals Smile 2 Continuation Plan

JAKARTA - The Smile 2 film directed by Parker Finn received a good response in its first week of broadcast. This horror film dominated the American box office of US$23 million or equivalent to Rp355 billion within one week of release.

Two years after his first film, Smile 2 became a surprise in theaters. Although the main character and the story are different from the first film, it turns out that this is the beginning of the potential development of the franchise.

"There are many ways that Smile (film) can go," Parker Finn quoted The Hollywood Reporter as saying.

"We have to see how the audience reacts to Smile 2, but I think what's interesting about Smile is that there is an opportunity to tell a variety of stories and put us in different worlds," he said.

Furthermore, he hopes that the film Smile 2 can get a positive response so that he can get the opportunity to share terror stories that are better than before.

"I think the sky is the limit," he said again.

In a different interview, Finn opened up about the opportunity to explore the Smile story.

In the first film, there were many mysteries and audiences learned them like their characters. In the second film, audiences began to have more knowledge than their characters," Parker Finn told Den of Greek.

"With an audience likely to know more, I want to refer to that and see if I can use it to intersect with the audience and invite them," he continued.

In the sequel, Smile 2 tells the story of Rose Cotter's death which leaves the curse of a smile. Mariami Riley (Naomi Scott) prepares her world tour after mourning her lover's death. How come she begins to experience the terror curse that threatens her safety.
