The Shadow Strays Becomes A New Point Of Action Genre For Timo Tjahjanto

JAKARTA - Netflix Indonesia presents Timo Tjahjanto's latest original film entitled The Shadow Strays. This action film is Timo's latest collaboration with Netflix after the 2022 film The Big 4.

This film places Aurora Ribero as the main character in her first action film. Timo revealed that this film focuses on the relationship between teacher and student.

I want to tell the dynamics of teachers and students and in his heart a love matriarchy. That's basically because in Indonesian films there are many masculine perspectives while I think I want to challenge myself when we tell something hard but from a woman's pov (point of view)," said Timo Tjahjanto at a press conference on Tuesday, October 15.

"Our audience is passion with films but with a lot of variations this film has a long duration because maybe I want to tell more than just a protagonist, because I think for the film world to feel live in, all the characters are breathing but we also see Desire and feelings," he explained.

Often working on the action genre, Timo always learns for his latest project, especially for The Shadow Strays which highlights women as the main character.

When making The Shadow Strays, I am like a student again and as a filmmaker, a new project is a challenge or not, we will stagnate, "said Timo again.

"The name action must have happened accidentally, so when we signed this project we are ready to be battered," said Hana Malasan, who plays the character Umbra.

First time I got a character like this. At first, our characters, initially, should have been created by Soriah and Haga, so there is a human side," added Taskya Namya, who plays Soriah.

The Shadow Strays tells the story of 13 (Aurora Ribero), a shadow killer who conflicts with him about his life choices until he is involved in a child kidnapping case.

The Shadow Strays film will be released on Netflix starting October 17.
