Wearing Crop Top Clothes, These Two Women Were Expelled From The Spirit Airlines Plane

JAKARTA - Two women vented their anger after being kicked out of a Spirit Airlines plane in the United States (US) by cabin crew. They were expelled for wearing crop tops for violating flight rules.

Reporting from the Daily Mail page, two women named totaling and Tara were on a plane from Los Angeles to New Orleans on Friday, October 4, 2024.

They boarded the plane wearing pants and sweaters. Then, they took off their sweater to cool off on the plane. Seen, they are wearing open clothes. They wear crop tops or short tops that generally display the navel.

Then the flight attendants approached and told them to cover their bodies again. The flight attendant explained what code of dress had been violated. Then, the situation heated up and they were removed from the plane, without refunding money.

"It's a shame to be escorted and treated like criminals just because we wore crop tops. It was an inhumane experience. We wasted our time, other people's time, our money, our dignity," said Tara.

Before boarding the plane, these two women had recorded a video and showed clothes. They wore rippled jeans, white crop top, and a green-lined sweater. Meanwhile, Tara wore striped pants, white crop top, and a navy mock-up jacket.

"On the plane was very warm, damp and hot on the plane because there was no air conditioning or anything, so we just took off the sweater and the male flight attendants approached us and said 'You have to wear a sweater now,'" Tara said.

"The two of us were just a little surprised, and it was like covering ourselves with our sweater a little bit because we were nervous, and we didn't know what was going on. We were sweating because it was so hot, so we opened the sweater's arm, but we covered our stomach and cleavage with a sweater because it seemed to really offend him," he continued.

According to him, the flight attendant again reprimanded and the situation increased when asking about the dress code policy. The flight attendant immediately called his boss.

"We were escorted by one of the supervisors because he said he would call the police or we could choose to go with him and he would reorder our flights," Tara added.

"They used intimidation and force tactics on us. We were never in a legal situation that got into trouble, so we were like "Oh God, what are we doing?" he continued.

The women admitted that they were forced to spend an additional US$1,000 or Rp. 15 million to get flights on different airlines.

"We didn't even enjoy our trip because so much of our mental energy was spent on this. It's like when you have a car accident, you get hurt, you have mental trauma. We have mental trauma on this." Tara said.

"We contacted the Spirit support department and they said no one was against crop tops on the dress code. It's not in the obscene category or anything like that. It's just pure discrimination." Tara said.
