Entelekey Media Indonesia (EMI) collaborated with Relate Films to officially release the first photos of their latest film, The Butterfly House, a horror film that combines elements of Chinese tradition with a tense storyline.

The film Spirit Marriage tells the story of a future husband and wife, Salim and Tasya, who move their pre-wedding photo process to Salim's family home after Salim's aunt, the only one, recently died.

In addition to having to take care of his aunt's funeral, Salim had to continue his family's ritual to burn ornaments every day at the mysterious altar or his life would be threatened. It turned out that the presence of them and their pre-wedding photo team at home made the spirit of Salim's ancestors during the Japanese occupation appear and terrorize them.

Finally, Tasya was moved to unravel the mystery of the past from Salim's family to be able to calm the spirit, as well as free her future husband from his obligation so that they could leave the house.

Directed by Paul Agusta, this film features Morgan Oey, Zulfa Maharani, Jourdy Pranata, and Brigitta Cynthia as the main characters.

"The Spirit Marriage film (The Butterfly House) brings elements of horror that focus not only on tension, but also on the Chinese culture of the role of Chinese, especially the tradition of spirit marriage. This is a challenge for me to combine these two elements into a strong narrative in the film," said Paul Agusta, director of the film Marriage Spirit (The Butterfly House) quoted by VOI from a media broadcast, Wednesday, October 9.

This film also requires its actors to do an intense character deepening, especially because this story combines spiritual and traditional elements.

Morgan Oey, who plays Salim, shared his experience in preparing himself to play this character.

I did quite a lot of research on Chinese traditions. This is my first time playing in a horror film with a touch of strong Chinese culture, and it presents its own challenges," Morgan said.

It is planned that this film will be shown in theaters in 2025.
