Home Sweet Loan Film Review: Realita Perjuangan Mencari Nyaman Di Kehidupan Sendiri

JAKARTA - The Home Sweet Loan film is Visinema Pictures' latest work and their collaboration with director Sabrina Rochelle Kalangie. This film is adapted from a novel of the same name by writer Almira Bastari.

Yunita Siregar is the main character along with Derby Romero, Fita Anggriani, and Risty Tagor. In addition, this film also stars Ayushita, Ariyo Wahab, Ina Marika and many others.

Home Sweet Loan tells the story of Kaluna (Yunita Siregar), an employee and youngest child in her family. Kaluna has a dream to own her own home because she is tired of living with her two older siblings and parents.

Kaluna is always economical in making expenses so that her salary can be saved to buy a house. However, it is not uncommon for him to spend his money to help the needs of his family and household.

This determination became even more unanimous when his brother, Kanendra (Ariyo Wahab) and his wife, Natya (Ina Marika) returned home. Unbeknownst to Kaluna, his private room was changed to their second child's room so that Kaluna had to settle in the used assistant's room.

Kaluna is starting to look for her own house, assisted by Danan (Derby Romero), Tanish (Risty Tagor) and Miya (Fita Angriani).

The film Home Sweet Loan has a central character with clear conflicts and goals so that this film looks real or stand out throughout the story. The audience is introduced to Kaluna who has difficulty feeling comfortable in her own home.

Kaluna points out the factors that form the basis for why she should own her own home, a dream that feels grandiose for the middle class and is shown good by Yunita Siregar.

He is able to present people who are often met in everyday life supported by good production values so that the audience can feel connected to the character or at least the background in this story.

There are two sides that Kaluna presents where she feels critical every time she faces her family and humorous side with her three best friends, Danan, Tanish, and Miya. As a result, the difference between the two balanced Kaluna's inner conflict. It was sad to feel happy to be present together so that it would not be swept away by one side.

There may be some changes considering this is an adaptation of a more complete book in storytelling, but this film presents Kaluna's story very well so that viewers who have not read the book can still follow the storyline.

Not to mention the thin sweet story between Kaluna and Danan which makes it feel warmer in the midst of laughter and emotion from Kaluna's friendship story.

Towards the final round feels less smooth and rushed, but in the end, this film is not only about the struggle to find a home but also to seek comfort for yourself, something that many people expect in the middle of life's chaotic life.

In addition, the selection of songs to support this film is also very interesting, especially with the main number sung by Idgitaf.

The Home Sweet Loan film opens in Indonesian cinemas starting Thursday, September 26, 2024.
