Denis Villeneuve Calls Dune 3 The Last Franchise Film, Not Trilogy

JAKARTA - Director Denis Villeneuve was confirmed to make the film Dune 3 last April. He stated that this film will be the last film of his Dune franchise.

Dune's third film was adapted from Frank Herbert's novel Dune Messiah. Despite being the third film, Villeneuve refused to call the film a trilogy.

First, it's important for the public to understand for me it's a discipline. (Dune's first two films) were a couple adapted from the first book. It's done," said Denis Villeneuve, launching Little Gold Man's podcast.

"If I make a third film, the script is being worked on, it's not trilogy. It's strange to call it but if I could say this film is different and has my own identity," he explained.

Dune Messiah is set 12 years after the incident in Dune's first novel. If he adapts to previous players then most likely, players such as Timothee Chalamet, Zendaya, Florence Pugh must dress up to look older than their age now.

"If Dune: Messiah happened, it will take me time at Arrakis and I want to do another project," said Denis Villeneuve.

So far, no players have been confirmed to join Dune 3. Zendaya himself had said he joined the third film because of the director.
