JAKARTA - Rapi Films released the official trailer for the film Sakaratul Maut online today through its official social media accounts. The horror film, which will be shown in theaters starting August 1, 2024, is Sidharta Tata's latest work produced by Rapi Films, in collaboration with Sky Media, Legacy Pictures, and Rhaya Flicks.

The screenplay was written by Agasyah Karim, Khalid Kasogi, and Bayu Kurnia, as well as featured a series of talented actors, including Indah Permatasari, Della Dartyan, Claresta Taufan, Maryam Supraba, and Aksara Dena.

Sakaratul Maut tells the story of Pak Wiryo and Mrs. Wiryo, a respected husband and wife in Umbul Krida Village. Their family looks happy and fine. However, a traffic accident that happened to them left Mrs. Wiryo dead and Mr. Wiryo in a coma.

Retno, their youngest child, postponed her departure to Surabaya to take care of her father, assisted by Wati, her brother, even though her chances of life were very small. Problems arose when Wati fought for inheritance with Tarjo, his half-brother from Pak Wiryo's second marriage.

Neighbors began to accompany him about Mr. Wiryo who had a 'handler' that made it difficult for him to die. One by one they began to experience terror from a very terrible jinn figure and Mr. Wiryo himself began to show strange symptoms in his dying condition.

The trailer for the film Sakaratul Maut opens with the scene of Retno (Indah Permatasari) splitting the crowd and running to Pak Wiryo (Jose Rizal Manua) lying on the road due to an accident. The scene then continued with various problems that occurred to people around Pak Wiryo, including Wati's (Della Dartyan) decision to repeat Mr. Wiryo to be treated at home and his conflict with Tarjo (Aksara Dena) and his mother (Daham Supraba).

Mr. Wiryo, who was dying, began to show strange symptoms. The terrible figure of the jinn from Pak Wiryo's room also started to terrorize them one by one. Retno and Pak Syafa'at (Landung Simatupang) then tried to stop the terror of the genie under Pak Wiryo's body.

The trailer, which is two minutes long and full of tension, is closed with a scared Wati scene followed by a high jinn figure.

This film Sakaratul Maut is different from my previous films. In this film, apart from playing something horror and scary, I also play with internal conflicts that occur in a family. Conflicts about inheritance that appear in a family, for example, will always create their own dynamics, such as conflicts between children or conflicts between brothers and sisters, and that's something I've never seen before," said Sidharta Tata, director of the film Sakaratul Maut quoted by VOI from a media broadcast, Friday, June 28.

"I've also tried to present horror treatments that I've never done before and I hope it will give a different reckless impression that viewers can accept," explained Sidharta Tata.

The film Sakaratul Maut will be released in Indonesian cinemas starting August 1, 2024.
