Member of the Indonesian House of Representatives Bambang Soesatyo (Bamsoet) asked the Polri Family of the Children of the Police or KBPP Polri to strengthen their role in the midst of security threats that are increasingly shifting to the digital space.
Bamsoet said that national threats now do not always come in the form of physical conflicts. Hoaks, digital radicalism, cybercrime, to hooliganism can also disrupt public order and the investment climate.
"KBPP Polri must appear as a social force that is capable of maintaining unity, strengthening community resilience, and becoming a bridge between the people and state institutions," said Bamsoet when attending the opening of the VI KBPP Polri National Congress in Jakarta, Friday (15/5/2026).
According to the former Chairman of the MPR RI, the relatively conducive security situation throughout 2025 is an important capital for development and economic growth. However, this condition should not make the community complacent.
Bamsoet said that the National Police handled more than 325,000 cases of crime throughout 2025 with a case completion rate of 76.22 percent. On the other hand, Densus 88 is said to be able to maintain a zero terrorist attack status for three consecutive years through prevention and law enforcement.
"National security cannot be entirely imposed on state officials," said Bamsoet.
He assessed that the KBPP Polri has a strategic position because it was born from the tradition of service and discipline of the large family of the Polri. This organization, said Bamsoet, can be a link between the community and the apparatus in preventing social conflicts.
Bamsoet also highlighted young people. According to him, the demographic bonus is only a strength if the younger generation is directed towards productivity, innovation, and unity.
On the other hand, the digital space can become a fertile ground for intolerance, provocation, and new criminality if it is not balanced by character education and digital literacy.
"Young people must be invited to join a concrete national movement," said Bamsoet.
He encouraged the KBPP Polri to be active through character education, digital literacy, social activities, and strengthening national insight.
The Munas VI of the National Police KBPP was also attended by the National Police Kabaharkam, Inspector General of Police Karyoto, National Police Kakorbinmas Baharkam, Inspector General of Police Kalingga Rendra, Chairman of the National Police KBPP Evita Nursanty, and a number of KBPP figures.
Bamsoet emphasized that community organizations need to become social glue in the midst of political polarization, global economic pressure, and changes in security threat patterns.
"The National Police KBPP must be an example of an organization that prioritizes dialogue, mutual cooperation, and maturity in democratic life," he said.
