Hashtags And Petitions Reject Viral Resort Construction, Raffi Ahmad Withdraws From The Project

JAKARTA - The hashtag for rejecting the construction of a resort, aka beach club, belonging to celebrity Raffi Ahmad, is busy on Instagram social media. This can be seen from the template feature on Instagram which has been used by more than 55 thousand Instagram users.

In this feature, it reads that the beach club that is being built in the Gunungkidul area, Yogyakarta owned by Raffi Ahmad, is a karst area that is a water reservoir location and is protected by UNESCO.

"So, here's the story. Raffi Ahmad is building a beach club in Gunungkidul. The problem is, the location of the land is in a karst area which is very important to collect water. And also enter the geological protected area recognized by UNESCO, you know. It shouldn't have been built anything," reads the message in the Instagram feature.

Even though at this time, residents of Gunungkidul themselves are experiencing a water crisis, if this beach club is still being built it will have an impact on the environment such as drought and flood disasters.

"The residents of Gunungkidul are now experiencing a water crisis. If this beach club is built, there will be a water crisis, drought, karst damage, floods and landslides," he said.

Seeing this, Raffi Ahmad immediately responded to the news in which he firmly said that he had withdrawn from the resort construction project.

He said this because he did not want to cause harm to the community or the environment as stated in government regulations.

"I would like to deliver a statement regarding the news that is being discussed by the project in Gunungkidul. And hereby I declare that I will withdraw from my involvement in this project," said Raffi Ahmad as quoted by VOI from his personal Instagram, Wednesday, June 12.

"Because for me, whatever I do in my business is mandatory in accordance with the applicable regulations in Indonesia. Especially, it must provide good benefits for all Indonesian people," he said.
