JAKARTA - Singer Keisya Levronka is again trusted to star in one of the latest films produced by the Base Entertainment production house entitled Malam Pencabut Nyawa where in this film Keisya stars alongside Devano Danendra and Ratu Felisha.

In an exclusive interview with VOI, Keisya tried to tell more deeply about her experiences during the filming process and the character she played in this film, where Keisya plays a high school student named Wulan who has more abilities in mystical matters.

“Playing Wulan, my character is very far from me, from Keisya. She's a character, she's mysterious and she's also an Indigo, that's not a character, but that's one of her strengths. She can see what ordinary people can't see. Later she will help her friends to solve a problem," said Keisya Levronka at the VOI office, Tanah Abang, Jakarta. Center, April 17.

The film Malam Pencabut Nyawa is the first horror film for the singer of the song Tak Ingin Usai. It's not surprising that when Keisya was offered this film, she admitted she was very excited. Even before being appointed as the role of Wulan, Keisya had done her own research and recorded the needs of Wulan's character in her small book.

"Then when I was offered it, I was really excited, I was really looking for it. I asked what should I prepare? I was really looking for references to possession from the start," she said.

Keisya explored many things during research to form the character she played.

"What film reference can I watch? I've already mind mapped it like where do I want to take this character? What do I think Wulan is like? Up to what I was able to tell earlier, I also have a small book like that, it contains about the character Wulan, even that is still not certain that I will play Wulan, but I already have the notes," said Keisya.

"So when I wanted to do a casting, I just read a little and then straight away, I also practiced with Mom. I kept watching YouTube, which was like a mystical one, which I was curious about, Ms. Sara (Wijayanto) and Ms. (Jurnal) Rissa, I watched them," she added.

Even so, this 21 year old woman still experienced difficulties in playing Wulan in this film. Keisya felt this because she felt that Wulan's character had a very different personality from her original personality. Where Wulan is a cold and quiet woman, while Keisya is a cheerful and sociable figure.

"It's very (difficult), because when I'm filming, to be honest, because I'm really loud, people are like that, so Wulan is like being quiet, cold, flat, like that, and sometimes I'm like, for example, in heavy scenes, I don't want to be so social, after taking it, I didn't want to (chat) for fear of letting go again," said Keisya.

"Because finding Wulan's character is sometimes difficult, so it's like that at the location I just keep quiet, I don't communicate with anyone I just keep quiet like I'm holding it in for a while, then once it's over, then haha hihi again and then take it and immediately become Wulan again like that," she added.

What's unique is that after filming for one month as Wulan, Keisya said that Wulan's personality had carried over to real life. When she felt that Wulan's figure had come out, she immediately tried to change her character again to the figure of Keisya.

"It seems like it's just getting carried away a little bit, in my opinion, that's been the case for a month, I've become someone else, so that's when it's gone, I'm still like that cold, you know. I'm still like awkward with people, my goodness, this is Wulan, not Keisya, straight away like that, ” she added.

Between Singing and Acting

Keisya Levronka is currently active in two professions at once, namely as a singer and also a film actress. This woman who was born in Malang admitted that it was a pleasant thing because she could carry out two professions at once even though she still felt stress.

Moreover, previously, Keisya said that she had to hold her first solo concert which she had been preparing for a long time in Malaysia as well as filming the film Malam Pencabut Nyawa.

"It's fun, although sometimes it's stressful, especially when we filmed this in October last year 2023, meaning that's when I held my first solo concert and it was in Malaysia and it was a really conceptual concert that had like a storyline, what kind of things? Mikha (Hernan) also helped at that time. So we literally every second every day I meet Mikha because he is taking care of the concert and preparations for Wulan, so it's really together, there's a lot of stress, but thank God everything goes smoothly and hopefully the results are satisfactory," explained Keisya Levronka.

Even so, Keisya cannot hide that she experienced culture shock when she entered the world of acting and Indonesian films. One of the things she feels most is related to working hours, which according to her are very different when working as a singer and as an actor.

“There was actually a bit of (culture shock), especially in terms of that time. At that time I was filming something, not this title, but I was filming at that time my call was in the morning at 08.00 in the morning, I arrived at 07.00, stand by at 07.00 I arrived. Then it turned out I waited a really long time, it turned out I only took it at 08.00 at night and I was really on standby there because when I went home I was afraid I would suddenly be called and it was a far location. So that was the culture shock, 'Does it really have to be like this when filming?' That's how it was in the beginning, I was still adapting, so I still didn't understand it," said Keisya Levronka.

Not only did she feel culture shock, but this woman who graduated from singing talent also felt insecure when she was invited to play in a film for the first time. However, fortunately Keisya was able to overcome this because she met senior actors who were willing to help and the production house team who were patient in teaching her acting.

“In fact, I'm really, really insecure because it's not a world that I understand, I don't understand it at all. So, my concept of life has always been learning by doing, finally because I met people who were more senior and wanted to teach me, not to mention the director who was patient with the new me so that was very helpful. All the good people around me really helped a lot because I also asked a lot 'what about this role? What about this role?' But it really needs teamwork and thank God there's been a lot so far," said Keisya.

Starting to feel comfortable with the world of acting, Keisya finally had difficulty choosing between singing and acting. When asked, Keisya admitted that she wanted to carry out these two proprofs as long as they did not disturb or harm other parties.

"Like before, I can't answer because I like both, so if possible, as long as it doesn't interfere and doesn't harm other parties, I really want to do both like yesterday. So, hopefully so far it's going well, at least my manager is the one who is having a headache because of managing the time, not to mention the preparation, there's fittings, there's make-up tests, there's all kinds of singing and you have to go back and forth, so I really hope you can do it both ways, amen" said Keisya Levronka closing the interview with VOI.
