JAKARTA - The new film from the Insidious franchise will certainly continue next year. Blumhouse Production revealed that Insidious's new film will air next year.

Although the title and plot are not yet known, this film will hit theaters on August 29, 2025. There are no new details about this film other than its two regular cast, Patrick Wilson and Leigh Totalnell will return to competing roles.

Please note, this new film is different from Thread: Insidious Tale, a spin-off series that was revealed in May 2023. Reportedly the series was written by Jeremy Slater and stars Kumail Nanjiani and Buntu Moore.

The new film is the sixth film in the franchise and the latest film after releasing Insidious: The Red Door. Patrick Wilson tried his luck by directing for the fifth film which reached box office of up to 271 million US dollars.

The Insidious franchise began in 2010 with director James Wan. The concept, which received a positive response to becoming a horror franchise, is increasingly successful and earned USD 730 million for all of its production.

Jason Blum as producer of Blumhouse expressed his desire to develop Insidious in various media. He briefly called the Thread series the last part of Insidious before this franchise took a break.

"Maybe not always rest, but it will be a long rest. There are no plans yet because there are priorities for every Insidious film," Jason Blum said at the time.

His last film, Insidius: The Red Door tells the story of Josh Lambert (Patrick Wilson) hiding his experience at The Further nine years since being possessed. He divorced and his mother had just died.

Josh tried to improve his relationship with his son, Dalton (Ty Simpkins) but the effort led him to a new conflict.
