Baeksang's Win Thanks To Exhuma Film, Lee Do Hyun Can Be Present Even Though He Is Mandatory In The Military

JAKARTA - Lee Do Hyun made a surprise by attending the 2024 Baeksang Arts Awards. Held on Tuesday, May 7, the 29-year-old actor was confirmed to be present a few hours before the event started.

Lee Do Hyun was nominated for Best New Actor in the film category thanks to Exhuma. Not a few questioned why Lee Do Hyun was allowed to attend the award ceremony.

Lee Do Hyun was allowed to attend because he did not receive payment from his presence. He is also required to apply for permission, and when the permit is received, he can still attend even though he is required to wear military clothing.

The actor wore a blue uniform symbolizing the Air Force according to where he served. He was also seen on the red carpet and greeted the public in the photo session before entering the COEX Hall, Seoul.

Lee Do Hyun's presence is not counted as a vacation because he is still on duty. Therefore, Lee Do Hyun was not allowed to attend a paid event. He did this when he watched the Exhuma premiere last February but was not present to greet the audience.

Lee Do Hyun brought home the Best New Actor award thanks to his debut film. Up on stage, Lee Do Hyun thanked various parties who supported him. He also thanked his girlfriend, actress Lim Ji Yeon.

"Hormat! Hello, now I am on duty in the Air Force as Lim Donghyun or actor Lee Do Hyun. Actually, I just arrived this morning, I was on duty and was told to prepare a winning speech by my brother so I wouldn't regret it," said Lee Do Hyun.

"I thank Jang Jae Hyun, Go Eun, and all the seniors who helped me on set. I filmed 2 projects and some unavoidable schedules and problems," he continued.

"I will work hard like a good opportunity and will show a better job. Thank you my father, my mother, my brother, my pet Gaeul, and Ji Yeon, thank you very much," concluded the actor.

He also ended his speech with respect and remained at Baeksang's event until the end. This is not uncommon, but Lee Do Hyun is not the first actor to be able to attend an event in the middle of his tenure.

In 2015, Kim Jaejoong attended the Korean Popular Culture and Arts event while Park Hyung Sik also attended the 40th Blue Dragon.
