Review Of 24 Hours Film With Gaspar: A World Of Mystery-filled Dystopia

JAKARTA - So long awaited, the 24 Hours film with Gaspar can finally be watched by the public. The film directed by Yosep Anggi Noen is an adaptation of a novel of the same name by Sabda Armandio.

Airing for the first time at the Busan Film Festival in 2023, now the 24 Hours with Gaspar film will air globally via Netflix.

24 Hours Together with Gaspar tells the story of Jakarta in the dystopian era, Gaspar (Reza Rahadian) a detective is looking for something in a shop owned by Wan Ali (Iswadi Pratama). A black box, he said, could fulfill the desire to open it.

The mission that sounded easy was full of difficulties in its execution. Gaspar also knew his life would not be long, he would die in 24 hours.

This situation made Gaspar gather several people to rob Wan Ali's shop. They are Agnes (Shenina Cinnamon), Ibu Tati (Dewi Irawan), Kik (Laura Basuki), Njet (Kristo Immanuel), and Yadi (Sal Priadi).

The first thing that stole attention was the convincing cinematography that the world of dystopia was felt. Step by step Gaspar in living daily life, looking at the lives of the lower class who are not far from chaos.

His magnificent music system also supports a portrait of a new world that will be the background for the story. Unfortunately, this does not go hand in hand with how the story rolls.

The initial mission, which focused on one figure, began to be combined with a Gaspar conflict that was looking for his small friend. Many clues were placed but the solution was fixed.

Then, these varied characters do not display a score that allows viewers to get to know them. Is it possible that they want to be placed as side kick Gaspar? No problem, but unfortunately their presence is not memorable other than Agnes who most often accompanies Gaspar.

Even so, the acting of these characters can still be enjoyed. Reza Rahadian especially. The changes he has made in suspending the rest of his life feel sad even until the last minute. His chemistry with Shenina is also interesting to see.
