Debut In The Film Women From Rote Island, Irma Rihi Finds The Similarity Of Nature With The Role Of Martha

JAKARTA - A local artist from Eastern Indonesia, Irma Rihi made her debut in the film Women From Rote Island which is a film that has become a conversation after bringing home the 2023 FFI Citra Cup for the Best Feature Film category.

This is the first time playing a film, especially in a long film, Irma admitted that she really feels extraordinary because in the end this film will begin to be watched by many people in theaters starting February 22.

"This is my first film that made me amazing to be here," said Irma Rihi in Kuningan, South Jakarta, Friday, February 16.

When asked about how to explore his role, Irma said that he found similarities in nature with the figure of Martha he played.

He felt that Martha was also a quiet woman and had difficulty expressing her feelings or commonly referred to as an introvert person.

"If you say exploring this role, Martha's nature is the same as that of Irma, there are a lot of similarities, where I rarely talk or rarely express my feelings very introverted," he continued.

Therefore, to explore the role for Irma, it is easy. But fortunately during filming he was always assisted by the director, Jeremias Nyangoen and other film crews.

"So to explore Martha's role, it is a bit difficult to make it easy but assisted by Mr. Jeri, our coaching coach, my friends, can explore," he concluded.

This film premiered at the 2023 Busan International Film Festival on October 7 last. This film also briefly aired at the Jakarta Film Week which was held at the end of October 2023 and won the Direction Award.

In addition, this film also aired at the 2023 Asian Film Festival Barcelona on November 4, as well as the QCinema International Film Festival 2023 in the Philippines.
