Surprise, Moana 2 Releases First Look On November 27

JAKARTA - Disney surprised the release of the premiere of the Moana sequel. A 17-second video with the title Moana 2 was released publicly.

This video features a beachground with the feet of a woman known to be Moana. Then, the camera moves backwards and leads to Moana who is now growing up.

In the video, Moana 2 is scheduled to be released theatrically on November 27, 2024. Previously, Disney said the sequel to this film was planned to air on June 27, 2025.

Moana 2 will present the story of the main character, Moana, Maui and the crew of sailors on an unexpected journey. Moana is said to have received an unexpected call from her ancestors who were looking for a way.

Moana will travel to the ocean in Oceania to dangerous waters that have long been lost in order to fulfill the call of her ancestors.

Directed by Dave Derrick Jr., Moana 2 is also done by Abigail totaling, Emily Bear, Mark Mancina, and Lin-Manuel Miranda for the music section.

So far it is not known who will fill the sequel. The first film was filled by Auli'i Cravalho, Dwayne Johnson, Rachel House, Temuera Morrison, Jemaine Clement, and others.

Moana became the box office when the first film aired and was also the most watched on Disney+ with 1 billion total plays on its platform.

Moana 2 is also different from the live-action remake announced in 2023. Dwayne Johnson as Maui shared the news while Auli 'i Cravalho is expected to join the Moana sequel.
