Sexual Violence Conflict Is Described In The Trailer Of The Film Women From Rote Island

JAKARTA - It has been discussed for a long time, the film Women from Rote Island will finally be broadcast in Indonesia soon. The production house Bintang Cahaya Sinema released its first trailer today, Thursday, February 1.

With a duration of almost two minutes, this trailer features the main character, Martha, who experienced a number of conflicts when she returned to Rote. Her parents, who initially did not suspect, slowly began to question what happened to her child.

Women from Rote Island tells the story of Martha, a migrant worker who returns to Rote for her father's funeral. Behind her deep sorrow, she also faces the sexual violence she has experienced and left trauma.

The mother, Orpa also faces discrimination and reality in society over the inequality of society. This film will present a inspiring story as well as a slick cinematic.

"Hopefully this trailer can be the beginning to move many hearts of the audience, later many will watch it to the cinema," said Jeremias Nyangoen as the director.

"If more and more people watch more people who can be aware of the issues we raise through Women from Rote Island," he said.

Film ini tayangkan pertama kali melalui Festival Film Busan pada Oktober 2023. Film ini juga memenangkan Film Terbaik di Festival Film Indonesia 2023.

Van Jhoov, Linda Adoe, Irma Rihi, and Sallum Ratu who are talents from East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) made this film their acting debut.

The film Women from Rote Island will premiere in Indonesian cinemas starting February 22, 2024.
