Laura Basuki Struggles To Lose Weight To See Fragile

JAKARTA - Laura Basuki became the main character in Upi's latest film, Sehavi Semati. She plays the role of Renata, a wife who becomes a victim of her husband's domestic violence, played by Ario Bayu.

Laura explained that she had put together Renata's character and appearance since reading the script.

"When I read the scenario, I created a character in my head like this. But Upi then agreed when filming, it was shown on purpose. Five (kg)," said Laura Basuki about her weight dropping on Monday, January 8.

"I talked a lot with Upi, I found out about Renata and what environments were raised until I had thoughts like Renata in the film," he continued.

In addition, Laura also reduced snacks while on set to shape her body looking more fragile.

"I was known as a hawker on the set, but when I filmed here, I lacked milk so I could get the bones in front and back to be more fragile," continued Laura Basuki.

Through her acting, Laura also showed several scenes that were spontaneously done but were approved by the director.

"If there is a scene in a spontaneous film, it seems more understanding of Renata's feelings and thoughts, but I also have an urge to do that," said Laura Basuki.

"I was also assisted by my co-star during filming so that a surprise scene appeared without being planned," he said.

Semari Semathi tells the story of Renata who becomes a victim of Dogma Edwin (Ario Bayu). One day, Renata suspects that there are other women in Edwin and Renata's life determined to keep their marriage. The film Sehapan Semati, starring Laura Basuki, will be released in theaters starting January 11.
