JAKARTA - Dangdut singer Wika Salim suddenly became the focus of netizens after sharing a deep heart-to-heart about her bitter past.

Through his Threads account, the singer of the song "Lagi Pengen" recalled how his struggle to pursue a career since the age of junior high school (SMP) was actually colored by slander from people around his house.

Wika said that when he was still in junior high school, he was already actively singing dangdut with his brother. However, instead of getting support, he often received harsh insults from his neighbors.

"Suddenly I remembered the old days when I was in SMP, I was singing dangdut ma my sister, then the neighbor next door often teased from the front of his house while shouting that he said we were **** because we often came home at night," wrote Wika Salim, quoted Tuesday, August 4.

The singer from Bogor admitted that he was very hurt when he remembered that moment. In fact, every time he came home late at night after work, he was always picked up and accompanied by his parents using a motorcycle.

"In fact, when I used to sing, if I didn't get my mother, my father, I used to ride a motorcycle often. I just realized that my mother and my father were as hard as that to not be spoiled," he continued.

Not only about past slander, Wika also touched on the phenomenon of people's changing attitudes after he now achieved success. He felt miserable seeing how people who used to insult him, now seemed to admit that they knew him best since childhood.

"It turns out that if we are poor, it is very easy for people to be humiliated. But when we get better, suddenly we become people who seem to know each other since childhood," said Wika.

Furthermore, Wika feels confused. When he is now at the peak of his career and has not had time to deal with these toxic people, he is actually labeled as an arrogant and forgetful artist.

"Now he says he doesn't care, he is arrogant, beluga, and forgets his origins. Hehe," he wrote sarcastically.

Despite having painful memories, Wika Salim emphasized that he did not hold a grudge. He just felt suffocated when he remembered how hard the world was on people who were struggling from the bottom up.
