Pursuing 2025, James Cameron Films 2 Avatars At The Same Time

JAKARTA - Director James Cameron revealed that he was working on two of Avatar's newest films at once. He believes Avatar will be released according to the initial schedule where the third film is planned to air in December 2025.

"We shot the third (film) and live-action photography on three films as a production combined with (Avatar: The Way of Water)," James Cameron quoted People as saying.

"We even made a part of the fourth film because young characters will be involved in the film, to get big jumps in the fourth film," he continued.

Furthermore, Cameron explained that there is a time interval of six years and later they will shoot to complete the fourth part.

We saw it and then we left for six years and we came back. So the part where we came back is a part that we haven't photographed yet. So we'll start after the third film is released," Cameron said again.

So far, James Cameron has finished the film Avatar 3 and just have to continue filming Avatar 4 and Avatar 5. The film Avatar 3 which was initiated in 2024 was changed by Disney so that the film will air theatrically on December 19, 2025.

Avatar 4 which has been started is targeted for release on December 21, 2029 and closed with Avatar 5 on December 19, 2031. With this, Avatar's last film will be released 22 years after its first film in 2009.

"Three are actually much easier than two. The second film, we were hit by a pandemic in the middle and we were annoyed, then we had to restart and restart production and things like that. And it's very difficult to finish it," he said.

Even so, James Cameron has not disclosed any information about Avatar's third film. Jon Landau as the producer only said the film would focus on Ash People led by Varang (Oona Chaplin).
