Released New Album, Nam Woo Hyun INFINITE Reveals Alami Rare Tumor

JAKARTA - Soloist and member of INFINITE, Nam Woo Hyun revealed a new fact behind his busy schedule as a K-pop idol. He was diagnosed with a gastroinestinalstrome tumor (GIST).

Nam Woo Hyun explained that GIST is a very rare cancer that only attacks 10 out of 1 million people.

This fact was shared in an interview session ahead of the release of his new album, Whitree today, Tuesday, November 28. He even carried out operations on the sidelines of promotions with INFINITE.

"In my case, the urgency of the operation cannot be negotiated, so I quickly held fan gatherings and performances in January and February before surgery (in April)," Nam Woo Hyun quoted the Korea Herald as saying.

His struggle to get through post-operative also felt heavy. Woo Hyun explained that he didn't drink water.

After surgery, I had to avoid drinking water for three weeks and there was a 20 cm mark on my stomach. I even had to put on a blood bag," he continued.

His desire to recover continued to increase after he spoke with the nurses at the hospital. He said this moment was the birth of Nam Woo Hyun again.

I feel like I'm reborn after surgery. My mind is getting deeper and I'm reaching maturity in music. My first release of music after battling cancer emphasizes this journey," said Woo Hyun.

However, he added that he had breathing problems when appearing and believing this was related to surgery.

The doctor told me that maybe I didn't get the ability to sing like I used to. My musical journey is five times more challenging because there are breathing problems when performing," he said.

Nam Woo Hyun will release her first solo album, Whitree today, Tuesday, November 28 followed by a solo concert in Seoul on December 30 and 31.

Earlier this year, Woo Hyun and INFINITE released the 13egin album with the latest New Emotions single.
