JAKARTA - There is always a wisdom behind a disaster. In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic which has put musicians on hold to hold concerts, Arch Enemy guitarist Jeff Loomis took the time to record his latest solo album.

During an appearance on The Riffhard Podcast, Loomis said the album would contain tracks that were entirely instrumental.

"This is my third solo album for Century Media," he said. "This album is totally instrumental. So, really, I'm just busy doing that (and) doing guitar solos for other musicians. I actually wrote a little bit of music for video games."

Loomis also said that he is filling in the solo parts for the new Arch Enemy album.

"I don't even know when we will release it yet, but I will start working on it soon. Our September tour schedule is still tentative, if that happens. Hopefully so," added Loomis.

Loomis, who was the main songwriter of the previous group Nevermore, joined Arch Enemy in late 2014, but was not involved in writing for the group's final album, Will To Power (2017).

In an interview with All That Shreds three years ago, Loomis said he had "a lot of musical ideas" that he would like to contribute to Arch Enemy in the future.

"I did write three or four songs for (Will To Power), but they didn't make the album, simply because the style wasn't what they were looking for," he said.

"Luckily, I was able to play guitar solos on the newest album, so that makes me happy."
