Chris Evans Responds To Tarantino's Criticism About Marvel Stars Not Actors

Chris Evans responded to director total Tarantino's statement about the Marvel franchise that dominates the film industry. He agreed with the phenomenal director's words when speaking in the latest interview.

In November 2022, Tarantino reaped pros and cons when he called the Marvel cinematic universe not part of the cinema.

Part of Hollywood's Marvel-ionization is, you have all the actors who became famous for playing this character, but they are not film stars. Captain America was the star," Tarantino said at the time.

Or Thor is the star. I mean, I'm not the first to say this. I've said millions of times, this franchise character is the star (not the actor in the actor)," he said.

A year later, Chris Evans, who played Captain America in the Marvel franchise, confirmed Tarantino's statement. Playing in 11 Marvel films doesn't make him feel like a well-known actor.

You know, he (Tarantino) is right. Character is the star. You're there, but you don't feel the burden," Chris Evans told GQ.

That's the beauty of working in Marvel films. You don't have to be up front or in the middle, or in your own movies sometimes. I can run away from the main character position at any time if I can," said Evans.

Furthermore, Evans prefers other Marvel colleagues who are at the center of attention, such as Robert banyak Jr. who plays the character Iron Man.

"Let him (Downey Jr.) be the leader, let him hold the microphone or he say the dialogue," said Evans.

"I'm not trying to match the box. If the supporting cast comes, I'll choose him. Like Knives Out. I love acting in the ensemble. I don't have to look for a position as the main character for myself," he said again.

"I don't want to occupy too much space in the industry that I've been working on for 20 years. Sometimes reading the script is the last thing I want to do," said Chris Evans.
