Hanbok Fashion Show Investigating K-Pop Lovers And K-Drama In Indonesia

JAKARTA - For K-Pop lovers, K-Drama and South Korean entertainment content, hanbok or traditional South Korean clothing is nothing foreign.

Big groups such as BTS and Blackpink often use hanbok designs, even though the design is modern and according to the needs and developments of the times.

Meanwhile, traditional hanbok can be seen through dramas and films from the Goryeo and Chosun times, such as Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo and The Red Sleeve.

To introduce hanbok further to the people of Indonesia, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of South Korea together with the South Korean Crafts and Design Foundation held a hanbok fashion show with the title Hanbok Wave on Lotte Avenue, South Jakarta on Friday, September 8.

This fashion show was also held in celebration of 50 years of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and South Korea.

Chang Dong Kwang as President of the South Korean Crafts and Design Foundation stated that a fashion show was held in Jakarta considering that many Indonesians are starting to be further interested in the culture of the Ginseng Country.

Indonesia is the center of the Hallyu fever (Korean cultural wave) and especially this year. This exhibition was held in Jakarta to commemorate 50 years of diplomatic relations between South Korea and Indonesia," said Chang Dong Kwang when met after the fashion show.

Meanwhile, this fashion show features 600 years of the history of hanbok transformation starting from the end of the Goryeo Dynasty, then entering the Chosun Dynasty, and ending with modern and current times.

This was chosen to show that a cultural product can continue to grow without leaving the existing essence.

"We want to introduce the beauty and diversity of hanbok unique lines, colors, and decorations, as well as create Korean emotional nuances rooted in tradition, even in the current modern hanbok," said Chang Dong Kwang.

At the end of this hanbok fashion show, visitors also had the opportunity to take pictures together with the models.
