When Freddie Mercury Calls Famous People He Most Wants To Know

JAKARTA - It is difficult to imagine any place or situation in a world where Freddie Mercury is not the most interesting person.

The beloved Queen frontman is charismatic and magnetic on stage and his legacy as one of the greatest personalities of rock music seems to be as big as before, more than three decades after his death.

Still, that doesn't mean Freddie never takes the time to worry about the big personality he wants to meet if given the chance.

In a 1984 interview with MTV News, the Queen vocalist was asked if there was anyone in history, alive or dead, who she really wanted to meet and talk to. Her first answer was fellow music legend, while the second was a famous royal figure.

"Who is it and what are you going to talk about?" asked the MTV interviewer in footage posted on Twitter this week.

"Life or death, the only person who wants to kill me is John Lennon," Freddie replied. "Because he's the one I idolize. And I just think that he's a beautiful human being, and I'm sad to say that I can't see him. He's the only one"

Freddie is known as a Lennon fan. On December 9, 1980, Queen covered the Beatles vocalist Imagine's song in honor of him, a day after John was shot and killed in New York by Mark David Chapman.

Freddie also wrote the song Life Is Real (Song For Lennon) in memory of the vocalist on the 1982 Hot Space album.

While it may be the tragic destiny that left Freddie Mercury never had the opportunity to meet John Lennon, his second answer to MTV's question about historical figures was someone who came from the previous generation.

"And are there any historical figures, apart from music [that you want to meet]?" asked the interviewer.

"Outside of the music?" Freddie replied. "Oh, Marie Antoinette!"

Di was the last Queen of France, who was executed in 1793 during the French Revolution. The Queen was composed of the song Killer Queen by Freddie on Queen's Sheer Heart Attack album.

Antoinette is known for his luxury and love of expensive jewelry, and became the center of the Affair Of The Diamond Necklace scandal in 1784.

"What will you talk about with Marie Antoinette Britain?" the interviewer asked.

"Look!" Freddie exclaimed with a naughty flash in his eyes, before laughing.
