JAKARTA - Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards confirmed via Instagram that "new music is on its way".

Richards posted a short video on his account on January 11 to share the update. "Hey guys, we're coming again," he said.

"Saying Happy New Year to all of you and there are some new music that is in the process and hopefully we can meet you. Let's keep hoping everything will happen."

Last summer, the guitarist spoke with Matt Wilkinson for The Rolling Stones: 60th Anniversary Special show on Apple Music 1. Richards said he hoped The Rolling Stones would record new material by the end of the year.

"By the way, I just recorded a song just making notes and then we found out how it came from, right? That's what I did," he said, noting that he wasn't sure if the new songs would be available on the streaming platform.

Richards previously confirmed that the Rolling Stones drummer, Steve Jordan, would help them complete the new album.

Jordan began filling drums for the Stones following the death of their old drummer Charlie Watts in August 2021, and was backed by Watts before his death.
