JAKARTA - Creed frontman Scott Stapp will play Frank Sinatra in the biopic Reagan. The film, slated for release next year, will feature Sinatra singing at the Cocoanut Grove club at the Ambassador Hotel in Hollywood, where he appeared at a fundraiser in 1970 for the second campaign of California Governor Ronald Reagan.

"Sinatra in appearance mode is an exercise of restraint," Stapp said in a statement to Billboard. He was excited to join the cast in this film and was blown away by the attention paid to detail, style and overall production.

Reagan was directed by Sean McNamara, produced by Mark Joseph and written by Howard Klausner. Stapp was in the cast alongside Dennis Quaid, who played Reagan; Jon Voight as the KGB agent who tracked Reagan for 40 years; Penelope Ann Miller as Nancy Reagan; Mena Suvari as Reagan's first wife, Jane Wyman; Lesley-Anne Down as Margaret Thatcher; and Kevin Dillon as Jack Warner.

"We are honored to have Scott in the Reagan film," said McNamara. "Scott is known for his great looks and high energy, so it's great to see him change course to embody the Sinatra charisma."

Stapp is known as the frontman of Creed, a rock band that has sold more than 50 million albums worldwide. For his work as a solo artist, he has released The Great Divide (2005) which was certified platinum and Proof Of Life (2013) featuring the single No. 1 Billboard, Slow Suicide.

In July 2019, Scott released his third solo album The Space Between The Shadows.

Stapp experienced addiction to illegal drugs which he published in 2014. After that he entered into an intensive rehabilitation program.

The vocalist lost custody of his three children during this period, he also missed court proceedings and allegedly threatened to kill President Obama.

After completing rehabilitation, Scott spent the following year in intensive therapy. Although initially diagnosed with bipolar, Scott was confirmed to have had a major depression that was addictive.
