9 Years Of Vacuum, Emir Mahira Returns To Acting Through First Horror Film: You Deserve To Die

JAKARTA - Emir Mahira returns to acting after 9 years of filming vacuum. Finally he starred in the film Soekarno. Now, he is back with his first horror film, You Deserve to Die. This film is an adaptation of the Korean film, Mourning Grave which was successful in Korea in 2014.

Emir Mahira, who plays Rakka, admitted that he was very excited about the film You deserve to die. You Deserve to Die features the story of Rakka who was born with the ability to communicate with the spirits of the dead. This ability burdened him and made him bullied at school.

“Before, I always acted in drama films. I am really excited about this film because it has a very different challenge,” said Emir when met in Central Jakarta, Wednesday, August 24.

Emir Mahira explained that he had stopped filming because he finished his education. "Actually, I studied abroad. When I got an offer for this film, I thought the story was good and I feel honored to be able to join this film," he explained.

You Deserve to Die cure Emir's longing for filming. "I feel like acting is like going back to my hometown. So I answered my longing for acting. The support of the team and friends in this film really helped me to get back into the character of the film," he said.

Zee JKT48, who was Emir's opponent, felt very proud to be involved in You Deserve to Die. “It was a valuable experience for me. Finally my dream come true, I can act in big screen films," said Zee.

You Deserve to Die also raises the theme of bullying which is currently a challenge for teenagers. The film was directed by Ginanti Rona and the script was written by Alim Sudio. The film is also supported by Andrew Barret, Angel Sianturi, Farandika, Shatora Narajan, Kezia Caroline, Chelcy Clarissa, Gaby Warouw, Neysa Chandria, Iszur M, Randhika Djamil, Ariyo Wahab and Jenny Zhang.
