JAKARTA - The COVID-19 pandemic has made it difficult for the music industry to run, including JKT48. Tuesday, November 10, Melody Nurramdhani as General Manager of JKT48 gave a statement regarding the possibility of JKT48 disbandment.

JKT48 is AKB48's sister group from Japan. Adopting the idol concept that can be encountered every day, JKT48 has succeeded in bringing a new concept to the Indonesian music scene. Their income is then generated from various idol activities that have never been encountered in other groups. What are they?

Theater

Every day, JKT48 members hold a show at the JKT48 theater located at F (x) Senayan. Through the show, fans can watch their idols with various sets of songs.

Launching the official website, various ticket prices are offered to enter the theater. For the upcoming November 12-15 show, tickets are priced at IDR 200,000 to enter the theater.

Handshake

Handshake event is an event where fans can shake hands with JKT48 members. The trick is to pay according to the price and choose members, so fans can take part in the event.

This event is not like a fansign or fanmeeting, because fans are only allowed to shake hands for a short time.

Merchandise

Merchandise is one of JKT48 merchandise that is most in demand by fans. Apart from being exclusive, this merchandise is one of the requirements so that fans can get benefits such as voting and so on.

The merchandise published by JKT48 is released in the form of posters per member, t-shirts, hats, calendars, and many others.

Roadshow

JKT48 also frequently visits various cities in Indonesia as part of handshake and roadshow promotions. Through this event, JKT48 can meet fans from various regions.

Handshake activities are also commonly held in the middle of a roadshow so that not only fans in Jakarta get the opportunity but fans outside the city can also feel it.

However, all these activities must be stopped due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Melody stated that this termination made the staff unable to further manage JKT48 so that they most likely have two choices: stop some staff and members or disband.
