JAKARTA - Anime Yu Yu Hakusho is ready to be adapted into a live action work. Netfilx has announced the main character for the series, Takumi Kitamura.

Yu Yu Hakusho starts from a Japanese manga series drawn by Yoshihiro Togashi tells the story of a character named Yusuke Urameshi, a naughty young man who died when he was hit by a car while trying to save the life of a small child and ended up becoming a Detective of the Underworld, and investigating various supernatural cases on Earth.

People are getting to know Yu Yu Hakusho more after his story was made into animation and became the entertainment of many children's days in the 90s era.

Quoting Deadline, Sunday, Tokyo Revengers star Takumi Kitamura is certain to play Yusuke for the live action version.

Unlike the anime version, later the live-action series from Netflix will take the story directly following the manga.

“Original works are universal and unique masterpieces. That is the reason why Japan is very proud of its strong manga and anime culture. I love sharing Yu Yu Hakusho's masterpieces with the world and I hope we can create something that people everywhere will enjoy," said Takumi as quoted by Deadline, Sunday, July 17.

Director Yu Yu Hakusho for the live action version, Sho Tsukikawa, understands that there is distrust among fans of Yu Yu Hakusho's manga or anime version when they find out that this story is being made into a live action version.

But he promises the latest effects and technology to make this work acceptable to global fans and can be liked like the manga and anime.

"From the start, we were very conscious of making a series for a global audience. Just like when I first heard about this adaptation, there may be people out there who feel this is an impossible endeavor, but no matter how many ways I express my feelings, I believe the work will speak for itself and prove it's possible. I will continue to pour my heart and soul into the project to provide the world's best entertainment from Japan," he was quoted as saying by ANTARA.
