JAKARTA - The production house Pixar introduces a new film called Elemental. This 27th Pixar film will be directed by Peter Sohn, who previously directed The Good Dinosaur (2015).

Pixar is known as the production house behind films that tell inanimate objects, including Toy Story (toys), Cars (cars), Wall-E (robots), and Inside Out which uses feelings as the main characters.

Elemental tells of Ember and Wade who are fire and drop of water who learn to accept their differences and similarities.

"In a city where fire, water, earth, water and air live together, a young woman and an easygoing man discover something elemental: how they have something in common," Pixar wrote with the Elemental movie logo.

The first Elemental concept was also released to the public. The photo shows a sketch of Ember and Wade walking in the middle of the city.

Citing NME, Peter Sohn explained the concept of Elemental story was inspired when he as a Korean immigrant moved to New York.

“My family moved from Korea in the early 1970s and built a grocery store in the Bronx. We're one of those families who move to a new place with hope – we join in one salad bowl of culture, language and neighbours,” says Peter Sohn.

Then Sohn imagined when classical elements such as water, fire, earth, and air could live and have feelings.

“Our story is based on the elements of fire, water, earth, and air. Some elements can unite with other elements, while others do not. What if this element is alive?” he said.

Meanwhile, Pixar has not announced who will voice the film. Pixar's Elemental will be released in theaters on June 16, 2023.
