JAKARTA - Actor Hwang In Yeop returns to play a schoolboy in the latest Netflix series, The Sound of Magic. This is the third time Hwang In Yeop has starred as a schoolboy character.
The Sound of Magic tells of Yun Ai (Choi Sung Eun) who is experiencing difficulties in life. One day, he meets a handsome magician, Ri Eul (Ji Chang Wook). Ri Eul comes and changes Yun Ai's life.
Hwang In Yeop plays Il Deung, Yun Ai's best friend who is smart but under pressure. The actor explained that the casting process for The Sound of Magic series was different from what was imagined.
“The story is very resonating. The meeting with the director runs as two hours and usually the director asks how we portray the characters," said Hwang In Yeop at The Sound of Magic's virtual press conference on Tuesday, May 3.
"That's what I initially thought but he (Kim Sungyoun) asked me about myself. I was touched by the way he wanted to get to know me and I wanted to work with him that's why I chose this series," continued Hwang In Yeop.
Il Deung's character is told by a schoolboy who gets first place, but on the other hand he feels pressure from his parents. He didn't know what dream he wanted to achieve. Hwang In Yeop said Il Deung had the characteristics of the schoolboy character he played before.
“Il Deung is adorable. He doesn't know how to express his emotions but he always tries. But he also looks weak. I think that through Il Deung, people will feel comfortable,” explained Hwang In Yeop.
"I hope you can love Il Deung and look forward to him in this series," he said.
The Sound of Magic will air exclusively on Netflix today, Friday, May 6 at 15:00 Indonesian time.
