Having Husband And Wife During Eid Night, Is It OK? Here's The Law

YOGYAKARTA – For Muslims, Eid al-Fitr is a special moment. This big day is greeted with joy and joy. This joy is certainly felt by the husband and wife, meaning that it is not impossible for the flowers of romance to bloom at the same time as the takbir. However, does Islamic law allow married couples to fall in love in bed on the night of Eid?

Citing Orami, regarding the relationship between husband and wife on the eve of Eid al-Fitr or Eid al-Adha, there is no explanation for the prohibition in the Qur'an and hadith. In Surah Al-Baqarah verse 187 which contains the following related to the above:

اُحِلَّ لَكُمْ لَيْلَةَ الصِّيَامِ الرَّفَثُ اِلٰى نِسَاۤىِٕكُمْ ۗ هُنَّ لِبَاسٌ لَّكُمْ وَاَنْتُمْ لِبَاسٌ لَّهُنَّ ۗ عَلِمَ اللّٰهُ اَنَّكُمْ كُنْتُمْ تَخْتَانُوْنَ اَنْفُسَكُمْ فَتَابَ عَلَيْكُمْ وَعَفَا عَنْكُمْ ۚ فَالْـٰٔنَ بَاشِرُوْهُنَّ وَابْتَغُوْا مَا كَتَبَ اللّٰهُ لَكُمْ ۗ وَكُلُوْا وَاشْرَبُوْا حَتّٰى يَتَبَيَّنَ لَكُمُ الْخَيْطُ الْاَبْيَضُ مِنَ الْخَيْطِ الْاَسْوَدِ مِنَ الْفَجْرِۖ ثُمَّ اَتِمُّوا الصِّيَامَ اِلَى الَّيْلِۚ لَا اشِرُوْهُنَّ اَنْتُمْ اكِفُوْنَۙ الْمَسٰجِدِ لْكَ اللّٰهِ لَا اۗ لِكَ اللّٰهُ اٰيٰتِهٖ لِلنَّاسِ لَعَلَّهُمْ

It means:

It is lawful for you at night to fast mixed with your wife. They are clothes for you, and you are clothes for them. Allah knows that you cannot hold yourself back, but He accepts your repentance and forgives you. So now intervene with them and seek what Allah has ordained for you. Eat and drink until it becomes clear to you (the difference) between the white thread and the black thread, namely dawn. Then complete the fast until (coming) night. But do not interfere with them, when you are doing iktikaf in the mosque. That is the provision of Allah, so do not approach it. Thus Allah explains His verses to people, so that they may become pious. (Al-Baqarah verse 187).

From the meaning of the verse above, humans are creatures created by Allah SWT. who can't resist. Repentance and forgiveness will be given, but Allah SWT has provisions to stay away from it.

Islamic law that explains the makruhnya of having sex with husband and wife on the night of Eid is in the narrations of Sayyidina Ali, Mu'awiyyah, and Abu Hurairah RA. Having sex on the nights of victory or time to pray has unintended consequences. That said, making love on that night resulted in the child being born less than perfect.

In addition, in the book Qurrotul Uyun by Sheikh Imam Abu Muhammad, several nadzam are written about the impact of having sex with husband and wife on the eve of Eid al-Adha. The book is a sex education book that is widely studied by students who write that there are 3 nights that are not allowed to have sex, namely: the first night of each month, the middle night of each month, and the last night of each month.

That's the law that contains the intimate relationship on the day of tasyrik in Islam.
