Slash On Guns N' Roses New Album And Hard Skool-Absurd Rework Process

JAKARTA - Slash confirmed to Classic Rock magazine that the new Guns N' Roses album will be coming soon.

"There's new Guns N' Roses material coming out as we talked about, and we'll probably keep releasing it until the whole record is done and then put it out on an album," the guitarist said in a recent interview. it and have fun doing it."

Last October, Slash told Audacy Check In host Remy Maxwell that Gun N' Roses had yet to start writing new material after recently releasing two reworked songs from the Chinese Democracy-era sessions.

In September, Slash and his bandmates released Hard Skool, which came more than a month after the release of Absurd, previously titled Silkworms.

"As far as new Guns N' Roses material is concerned, we haven't even gotten to that point to sit down and write in earnest," Slash told Audacy Check In. "We make a lot of material that hasn't been used for a long time. So we'll focus on that first."

On how Hard Skool and Absurd came about, Slash said: "Those two songs have a lot of history. What happened was Axl (Rose, vocalist) had all the songs he recorded at some point. So Duff (McKagan, bassist) and I came in and remake, basically... Like, I wrote my own piece for what was already there, and (we) just took the drum stuffing and remade everything else."

Written by Axl and co-produced by Axl and Caram Costanzo, Hard Skool, whose original title was Jackie Chan, was originally recorded during the Chinese Democracy era but was eventually omitted from the album. A short clip of the song was later posted online and the full version was leaked in August 2019.

Hard Skool is the title track of the new EP (mini album) Guns N' Roses which will be released on February 25th. The album, which was exclusively released for official Guns N' Roses stores, contains the two new songs mentioned above - Hard Skool and Absurd (written ABSUЯD) - as well as live versions of Don't Cry and You're Crazy.
