Gundala And Satan's Servant Become Friends Celebrating New Years At Home

JAKARTA - There will be no celebration of the new year 2022. The government has banned celebrations to avoid crowds that could be the cause of the spread of the COVID-19 virus. At home, two Indonesian films, Gundala and Pengabdi Setan, accompany viewers.

The Devil's Servant (2017) will be released on Saturday, January 1 at 00:00 WIB. The following is a synopsis of the film, starring Tara Basro, Dimas Aditya, Ayu Laksmi and Endy Arfian.

Rini (Tara Basro) runs out of money to pay for her mother's illness, Mawarni (Ayu Laksmi). The disease was so severe that Rini's mother was unable to move her body and just lay in bed. To call and ask for help, Rini's mother had to ring a bell.

Various attempts were made by Rini's family to get additional money, including asking for royalties from her mother, who had a career in singing, before finally falling ill for three and a half years without knowing the cause.

The second child of the family, Tony (Endy Arfian), is also willing to sell motorbikes and other personal items to help his family. The father (Bront Palarae) also has to be frugal and occasionally works out of town because he has to continue to support his four children.

Meanwhile, Gundala also airs at the turn of the year. This film tells the story of Sancaka who has lived on the streets since his mother and father left him. Facing a harsh life, Sancaka learns to survive by not caring about others and just trying to find a safe place for himself.

As the city's situation grows increasingly insecure and injustice runs rampant across the country, Sancaka must make a tough decision, stay alive in her safe zone, or come out as Gundala to defend the oppressed people. Interestingly, Gundala and Pengabdi Setan are both directed by Joko Anwar.
