Destin Cretton Is Officially Working On 'Shang-Chi' Sequel

JAKARTA - The sequel to Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is reportedly being produced soon. Destin director Daniel Cretton who worked on the first story was appointed to work on and write the continuation of the story.

“Destin is a wonderful collaborator bringing a unique perspective to Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. We enjoy working on films and he has lots of story ideas for Disney Plus," said Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige.

"We can't wait to develop this relationship and get started soon," continued Kevin Feige.

In addition to the Shang-Chi sequel, Destin is also rumored to be directing the latest Marvel series for Disney+ but Marvel hasn't spoken about it yet.

"Working on Shang-Chi with Kevin and the Marvel Studios team has been an important part of my life, and I can't wait for Tara's vision for the Onyx Collective," said Destin Cretton.

"I can't wait to explore stories and build new worlds with this community," he concluded.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is the first film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to be dominated by Asian actors and actresses. The film grossed $432 million and is the highest figure for a superhero film.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings tells the story of Shang-Chi (Simu Liu) who is forced to confront his past. The film premieres in Los Angeles on August 16 and worldwide in September.
